Biogeochemical Cycles

Atoms of the nutrient elements that are essential for living organisms are not abundant enough in the accessible parts of the environment for each one to be used only once. this topic explains how inter-connected physical and biological processes produce cycles that allow each atom to be reused many times. These cycles illustrate how, in natural systems, the waste products of one process are often the raw materials of other processes.
